A breast augmentation consists of inserting implants into the breast to achieve a fuller look.
LENGTH
1 to 2 hours.

ANESTHESIA
Local with sedation, or general.

IN/OUTPATIENT
Usually outpatient.
RECOVERY
Back to work: a few days. Physical contact with breasts: 3 to 4 weeks. Fading of scars: several months to a year or more.

DURATION OF RESULTS
Variable. Implants may require removal or replacement.
SIDE EFFECTS
Temporary soreness, swelling, change in nipple sensation, bruising. Breast sensitive to stimulation for a few weeks.

RISKS
Lack of implant permanence — surgical removal or replacement of the implants may be required to treat problems, including deflation, formation of scar tissue around the implant (capsular contracture, which may cause the breast to feel tight or hard), bleeding, or infection. Increase or decrease in sensitivity of nipples or breast skin, occasionally permanent. Mammography requires a special technique. (Note: Some women have reported symptoms similar to those of immune disorders. Ask your doctor about these and other FDA concerns.)

LENGTH
1-2 hours.

ANESTHESIA
Usually general.

IN/OUTPATIENT
Outpatient

RECOVERY
Patients are often given a compression garment to wear for the first few weeks after surgery; this helps to minimize swelling and offers support to the healing tissues. While vigorous exercise is typically off-limits for about 3 weeks, many men return to work or school within several days after their procedures.

DURATION OF RESULTS
Permanent with weight maintenance.

SIDE EFFECTS
Swelling and bruising.

RISKS
Infection, fluid accumulation, excessive scarring, rippling or baggy skin, asymmetry, pigmentation changes along incision lines or altered sensation.

Often performed in conjunction with or following breast cancer removal, breast reconstruction can be accomplished using the patient’s own tissues or a prosthetic inserted beneath the skin.

LENGTH
Stage 1: Tissue Expander Placement, 2 to 4 hours including mastectomy. Stage 2: Tissue expander exchange to final implant with fat grafting, 1.5 to 2 hours. Stage 3: Nipple reconstruction with additional fat grafting, 1.5 hours.

ANESTHESIA
General.

IN/OUTPATIENT
Stage 1: 1 to 2 day hospital stay; Stage 2 and 3: Outpatient.

RECOVERY
Daily living may be resumed immediately. Return to non-strenuous work, with lifting limited to 10-lbs. or less, may be resumed in 2-4 weeks. No forceful pushing, pulling, or repetitive upper body movements for 3 weeks. Visible reduction in scarring should be obvious in 6 to 24 months. Bruising to the affected area should last no more than 2 to 4 weeks. Moderate to significant swelling may be apparent for up to 4 weeks, with subtle to mild swelling possible for 2 to 3 months, depending upon the extent of the procedure.

DURATION OF RESULTS
Tissue expander will be replaced by permanent prosthesis in 3 to 6 months. Implants may require replacement or removal at some point in the future. Results of the procedure are intended to last years/decades.

SIDE EFFECTS
Temporary soreness, swelling, bruising, numbness, burning sensation.

RISKS
A few risks include infection, asymmetry, permanent decrease in sensitivity in nipples and breast skin. Tightening and hardening of breast tissue surrounding prosthetic implant or rupture of implant may also occur, requiring additional surgical intervention to release scar tissue or replace the implant.

This procedure can increase fullness, roundness and projection of your buttock and improve the balance of your figure.
LENGTH
2-3 hours.
ANESTHESIA
General
IN/OUTPATIENT
Outpatient
RECOVERY

LENGTH
1-2 hours.

ANESTHESIA
Usually general; in some cases local with sedation.

IN/OUTPATIENT
Outpatient

RECOVERY
Patients wear a protective sleeve-like wrapping home after surgery. Significant healing should be seen in about 10-14 days; After the armlift, recovery from swelling can take 3-6 months to fully fade. Sutures are usually removed 2-3 weeks after surgery. Because the incision stretches almost from elbow to underarm, scars will always be evident, but will fade almost completely in 6 months to 2 years of surgery.

DURATION OF RESULTS
Long lasting, but subject to changes associated with natural aging process.

SIDE EFFECTS
Temporary swelling, pain, and discomfort. Scarring.
RISKS
Risks include wound healing issues, poor scarring, bleeding, infection, and seroma (fluid collection) formation.

Earlobe reconstruction surgery can repair: saggy ear lobes from years of wearing heavy earrings; unsightly ear lobes from improper piercing technique or infection; natural congenital deformities in the shape and size of the earlobe; traumatic injury to one or both ear lobes resulting in deformity or scarring; or enlarged holes from intentionally stretching or gauging the ears for fashion.

LENGTH
1 hour

ANESTHESIA
Local

IN/OUTPATIENT
Outpatient

RECOVERY

DURATION OF RESULTS
Permanent

SIDE EFFECTS
Temporary pain, redness, swelling, numbness, itching.

RISKS
Scarring, re-tearing of the lobe, blood clots, infection.
Reconstruction After Skin Cancer Removal
A skin cancer lesion that is particularly large, is being removed with frozen sections or is likely to cause disfigurement may require reconstruction. The general principle of closure is to borrow extra, unnecessary tissue from other similar or nearby locations. All layers of the defect and all tissue types that are removed must be replaced. Skin grafts and cartilage grafts harvested from other regions of the head and neck, or body are often necessary. For defects of the nose, multiple surgeries may be necessary to provide optimal results.

LENGTH
The size and location of the defect will dictate the recommended closure and repair. The procedure length varies from 15 min. to 3 hrs. depending on the exact defect.

ANESTHESIA
Generally, the closure can be done under local anesthesia or conscious sedation.

IN/OUTPATIENT
Outpatient

RECOVERY
You should be able to return to normal function the day of the procedure. Incision sites may be sore, red or drain small amounts of fluid following surgery. An occlusive dressing may be placed after the surgery. Keep incision sites clean and well protected from potential injury. Try to limit movement that may stress your wound and your sutures. Sutures are removed within 7 days of the procedure.

DURATION OF RESULTS
Healing will continue for many weeks or months as incision lines continue to improve. It may take a year or more following a given procedure for incision lines to refine and fade to some degree. In some cases, secondary procedures may be required to complete or refine your reconstruction.

SIDE EFFECTS
The side effects are similar for both skin graft and skin flap surgeries and include nerve pain, swelling, bleeding, infection, scarring, wound separation, graft failure and in rare situations, flap necrosis.

RISKS
Skin grafts and flaps used to cover surgical areas may not fully survive, requiring additional repair.

Botox
Injections of botulinum toxin blocks muscular nerve signals, which then weakens the muscle so it can’t contract. The end result is diminished unwanted facial wrinkles.
The Botox injections that we offer can be used to help smooth: crow’s feet, forehead furrows, frown lines, and skin bands on the neck.

LENGTH
Botulinum toxin treatment injections usually take less than 15 minutes. The number of injections you need will depend on your facial features and the extent of your wrinkles. Crow’s feet, for example, usually demand two to three injections. Furrows above your brow could take five or more.

ANESTHESIA
No anesthesia needed.

IN/OUTPATIENT
Outpatient

RECOVERY
There is no down time or recovery time. You may resume normal activities immediately.

DURATION OF RESULTS
You may notice results within a few days, but it can take up to a week to see the full effect. This improvement typically lasts about three to four months. When the effects of botulinum toxin begin to fade, your muscle reactions and the wrinkles will return.

SIDE EFFECTS BOTOX®
Injections are relatively safe when performed by an experienced doctor. The most common side effects include swelling or bruising at the injection site, headache, or flu-like symptoms. One note of caution: Do not rub or massage the treated areas after the wrinkle treatment because it can cause the botulinum toxin to migrate to another area of your face. If this happens, you could have temporary facial weakness or drooping.

RISKS
Although generally safe, risks can include: bruising and pain at the injection site, flu-like symptoms, headache, nausea, redness, temporary facial weakness or drooping.
Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are a non-surgical injectable treatment used to restore facial volume, create youthful facial contours, add volume to lips, and smooth out and reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and folds.
There are currently many dermal filler products available on the market, the most popular of which are based on Hyaluronic Acid (HA), a substance that naturally exists in the human body, lubricating soft connective tissues, the skin, the eyes, and certain joints. The Hyaluronic Acid found in popular dermal fillers such as Juvederm®, Restylane®, Perlane®, VOLUMA™, and Teosyal® is a synthetic compound that acts similarly to the natural substance. It attracts water molecules and therefore acts like a cushion, propping up existing facial structures that have lost volume and elasticity as part of normal aging. By increasing the skin’s supply of Hyaluronic Acid, dermal fillers revitalize and add volume to the skin, smooth out wrinkles and lines, fill in hollowed out areas, and impart a softer, more youthful appearance.

LENGTH
Approximately 15 minutes.
ANESTHESIA
Most patients only experience mild discomfort. As the needles used for dermal fillers are very fine, the amount of pain experienced by patients is minimal and the procedure does not require anesthesia. It should also be noted that many of the dermal filler products available today contain Lidocaine, a local anesthetic, to minimize your discomfort. Topical numbing creams can be used to further minimize discomfort when injecting sensitive areas.

RECOVERY
One of the most enticing features of soft tissue fillers is their minimal recovery time. It takes approximately a week for swelling and bruising to disappear. Results are usually immediate with the full effect evident in about 48 hours.

DURATION OF RESULTS
Results vary, though results of most common brands will last six to twelve months. After this period of time, you will need to receive fillers again to maintain your rejuvenated appearance. If you opt to stop getting injections at any time, your appearance will just revert to its original state.

SIDE EFFECTS
Mild redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising, or itching. These effects should clear up in less than 7 days (or 14 days for lips). Redness can be concealed using foundation or concealer. In general, most patients experience little or no downtime – which means you can return to work and continue with your usual daily activities.

RISKS
Dermal fillers are very similar in composition to the Hyaluronic Acid that naturally exists in your body, as such it is very unlikely to induce an allergic reaction. The most common complications associated with fillers include receiving results other than you had intended, tiny lumps or irregularities under the skin, and prolonged redness. After receiving dermal filler injections, patients prone to cold sores may develop an outbreak.

RECOVERY
An ice pack is applied to help reduce swelling, and the area is thoroughly massaged to distribute the product evenly. Immediately following a treatment redness, swelling, pain, bruising, or all of these signs may occur in the treatment area. These signs usually go away in a few hours to a few days. Some patients have had some bruising that has lasted about a week. You will be given specific post-treatment care instructions, which will include massaging the area a few times each day for several days after the treatment session.

DURATION OF RESULTS
Sculptra® does not produce immediate results. You will likely need about three monthly treatments to achieve your desired results. With each treatment, there is re-stimulation of your own collagen. Then it can take four to six weeks to see the full effect. Sculptra® helps restore lost collagen — restoring the structure under the skin — for smoother skin and fuller volume that can last for two or more years. While this type of dermal filler is considered semi-permanent, you may still need occasional touch-ups.

SIDE EFFECTS
The most common side effects with the use of Sculptra® include injection-related side effects at the site of the injection such as bleeding, tenderness or pain, redness, bruising, or swelling. These side effects generally last, on average, 3 to 17 days.

RISKS
As with all procedures that involve an injection through the skin, there is a risk of infection.

RECOVERY
Most people will notice results anywhere from one to seven days after treatment.
DURATION OF RESULTS
When administered correctly, Dysport® can provide relatively long-lasting, wrinkle-free results. The transition between treated and non-treated areas is usually more natural and creates a youthful appearance, rather than one of perpetual tightness that can be the byproduct of other treatments.

SIDE EFFECTS
The side effects with Dysport® seem to be mild and vary according to the site treated as well as the individual being treated. Headaches after treatment are the most common side effect. One rare side effect is the drooping of the eye. This is not a common occurrence, and when it does happen, the problem usually wears away with time.
RISKS
In a very small percentage of cases there can be a complication called “ptosis” (a drooping eyelid) which may last a few days or up to 4 weeks. Rarely, an allergic reaction can cause a skin rash or “flu like” symptoms.
Xeomin
Xeomin, is a purified form of botulinum toxin type A that is injected into the upper facial muscles of expression. The Xeomin botulinum toxin causes temporary paralysis of the muscles, thus preventing the formation of wrinkles and providing a smoother, more youthful appearance.

Often times, patients return to work after their CoolSculpting® session is over.
DURATION OF RESULTS
You may start to see changes as quickly as three weeks after your treatment, and will experience the most dramatic results after two months. But your body will still flush out fat cells and continues doing so for up to four to six months after treatment. As long as you maintain a healthy lifestyle, long-term results should remain stable.

During the procedure you may experience deep pulling, tugging, pinching, numbness, or discomfort. Following the procedure, typical side effects include temporary numbness, redness, swelling, bruising, firmness, tingling, stinging and pain.
RISKS
The most common side effects, all of which typically resolve within 1–3 weeks, are redness, swelling, and bruising.
Laser Hair Removal

Leg Vein Injection
Spider Vein Treatment or Sclerotherapy involves the injection of a solution into each affected vein, causing the vein to collapse and fade.

LENGTH
30 minutes – 1 hour.

ANESTHESIA
Medications may be administered for your comfort during the procedure.

IN/OUTPATIENT

RECOVERY
Usually there is no downtime after spider vein treatment. For most patients, full activity may be resumed immediately. After sclerotherapy you will wear compression stockings to maximize the chances of treatment success.

DURATION OF RESULTS
More than one treatment is often required, since all the veins will not respond to the first treatment. Also, since spider veins are a progressive condition, you can expect new spider veins to form over time, which may require treatment every few years to maintain the improvement.

SIDE EFFECTS
Temporary skin discoloration, skin reddening, bruising, and occasionally blisters. These side effects subside over a couple of weeks to a couple of months.
RISKS
Skin discoloration; Skin reddening or loss; Bruising; Blistering.
Tattoo Removal
Tattoo ink lives underneath the top layer of skin, which makes it difficult to remove, often requiring multiple laser sessions or in some cases, surgical removal. Laser tattoo removal is a noninvasive procedure that uses a Q-switched laser device to break down the pigment colors of an unwanted tattoo, while causing minimal damage to surrounding tissue.

LENGTH
Varies depending on the nature of the tattoo.
ANESTHESIA
Local, such as a topical anesthetic cream may be applied before treatment.
IN/OUTPATIENT
Outpatient
RECOVERY
In most cases you may return to work and other daily activities immediately following your treatment.
DURATION OF RESULTS
Laser tattoo removal is permanent but it may take as many as two to twelve different sessions to obtain satisfactory results.
SIDE EFFECTS
Mild pain or discomfort for up to forty-eight hours following treatment. In most cases, pain can be managed by applying an ice pack to the affected area. You may notice a slightly elevated, white discoloration and possible pinpoint bleeding in the treatment area immediately following the procedure. Minimal edema and erythema of adjacent skin may also occur. These symptoms typically resolve within twenty-four hours. Subsequently, a crust will form over the entire tattoo, which will fall off after about two weeks.
RISKS
Skin discoloration such as hypopigmentation and hyperpigmentation, temporary changes in skin texture, and rarely, paradoxical darkening of a tattoo may occur.
