We’re often asked what is the difference between Juvederm and Juvederm Voluma.
Juvederm is most commonly applied to the nasolabial folds or the “parentheses lines” around the nose and mouth. Juvederm Voluma XC is the newest addition to the Juvederm family. Voluma was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration last in October 2013 as the first injectable filler to instantly add volume to the cheek area. We’re excited to offer Voluma to our clients. Just putting in a little filler can help provide a more youthful appearance with natural and long-lasting results.
Monmouth Plastic Surgery has had remarkable success with Voluma for both women and men. Voluma changes the contours of the face and lasts up to 24 months. Voluma is composed of hyaluronic acid, a sugar naturally found in your face, so it can easily be reversed by injection of hyaluronidase. A little goes a long way and it feels exceptionally soft and natural in the skin. Voluma comes premixed with Lidocaine which improves comfort during injection. Voluma is less prone to cause bruising since it’s injected deeper than other fillers. And Voluma may be more cost effective than other hyaluronic acid fillers since it can last up to 24 months.
Often physicians will use both Juvederm and Voluma to provide even better results.
As always, we recommend patients interested in Voluma or any filler consult a certified doctor who has had training & hands-on experience with these products to get the best possible results.
